Welcome to Chavez!

CAASSP and CAT Testing - April 9, 2018 and April 27, 2018

Dear Families,

 

This letter is to inform you that your 11th and 12th grade student will be taking the state mandated Smarter Balanced Assessments (CAASPP and CAST) right after Spring Break between April 9, 2018 and April 27, 2018. Smarter Balanced tests provide one measure of student knowledge of the subject matter, critical thinking, analytical writing, and problem solving skills they need to prepare for and succeed in today's world. The tests provide timely and actionable student information so that teachers and schools can adjust and improve teaching. 

 

Testing will take place at their school site with the exception of Thurgood Marshall students. Marshall Main will test on main campus, Marshall Dominguez will test with Chavez Dominguez campus and Marshall Compton will test with Chavez Compton.

 

Please review the following policies with your child before testing:

 

· Electronic Devices- If you student is found with ANY electronic devices, including but not limited to, cell phones, smart phones, at any time during testing OR during breaks, his or her test section will be invalidated, which means it will not be scored. The best practice is to have students leave electronic devices at home on the days of testing.

· Leaving Campus- If your student leaves campus before completing a test section (for an appointment, illness, etc.) he or she WILL NOT be allowed to complete that test section. If your student does not feel well it is best for him or her to wait and be tested on a make-up day.
